Teodora Opris is a graduate of OCAD. Her work explores the rhythms of the sea and wind as an expression of emotional state and how we perceive life experience. “I feel a deep connection with nature and the movement of wind and water in particular. The sea provides so much to us, from nourishment, sea-faring trades, and a sense of peace to the other side in that the sea can be forceful, dangerous, destructive, powerful, and leave us with a sense of awe or even fear. The dichotomy of these rhythms is also a metaphor for so much of how we experience life.” The processes she uses include: layering, movement, subtractive, expressive gestural, and watery soak-stain techniques.
